Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Five Element Modalities

Acupuncture is an ancient system of medicine originating in China more than 2,000 years ago.  By inserting extremely fine/thin needles into different areas of the body, we are able to stimulate the Qi (energy or Prana), blood and body fluids to help the body work more efficiently.  This medicine affects the mind, body and spirit.  By treating physical symptoms, we can affect the mind, emotions and spirit positively.  By treating the spirit, we can help the body’s functions run more smoothly.

The needles are inserted into meridians, or channels located in the connective tissues, as well as areas that may be experiencing pain or tension (such as muscles).  You may feel a slight pinch or very subtle sensation upon insertion, and then a feeling of calm or well-being.  Treatments build upon each other, and diagnoses are made based on the root causes of dis-ease, as well as imbalances in the Five Elements that make up the whole person (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water).

  • What’s flourishing in your life?

  • What is your favorite season?

  • How do you nourish yourself?

  • What inspires you?

  • What are you passionate about?
